ノルウェー・ポルシュグルン国際演劇祭（PIT Festival）

―都市が舞台となる、演劇と身体の祝祭―
ノルウェー南部の港町ポルシュグルンで、毎年初夏に開かれるPITフェスティバル（Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival）。

1995年に始まり、30年の歴史を持つ、北欧を代表する国際演劇祭です。

街そのものが舞台となり、古い造船所や倉庫、水辺、広場、通り、森の中、フィヨルドの海辺に、言葉と音と身体が息づきます。子供たち、お父さんお母さん、お祖父さんお祖母さんの世代まで一緒に、このフェスティバルを毎年楽しみに訪れます。

そこでは演劇、ダンス、詩、音楽、舞踏、サーカス、ストリートアート… あらゆる表現が混ざり合いながら、人と場所の関係性に、新たな風景が立ち上がります。

フェスティバルには、若い表現者のためのプラットフォームや対話や学びの場となるワークショップ、セミナーもあり、つくる人、受け取る人… そこに集うすべての人が、境界なく関わり合う、ひらかれた空間が生まれます。

このフェスティバルに身を置いた時間と出会い。
ポルシュグルンの街…ノルウェーの自然…
すべてが、私の肉体の奥に結びつき、踊りの記憶として刻まれました。

慟哭する身体
空白を舞い
虚を舞い
立ち上がる生
舞踏も
あの削ぎ落とされた豊穣
生き物本来の叫び
忘れられた情念
命を踊る

Dancing through the void,
Dancing through emptiness,
A life rising anew.
Butoh— That stripped-down abundance,
The primal cry of all living things,
Forgotten passions,
Dancing life itself.

「生滅流転」に思う

私たちは、どこから来て、どこへ行くのか。
生滅流転。
すべてのものが生まれては死に、死んではまた生まれ、転生を続ける。
古の日本人、鴨長明は、それを川の流れに例えてこう書いた。

「行く川の流れは絶えずして、しかも元の水にあらず、淀みに浮かぶ泡沫は生まれては消え、生まれては消え、留まることはない、人もまた同じ、」と。

我ら、この地球の原始の海から這い上がり、地上に住むようになった人類という生き物。文明を作り上げ、進歩、発展、繁栄を極めてきたと信じているが、巡り続ける大きな輪廻のなかでは、わずかに短い時間を生きて死んでゆくほんのちっぽけな生き物に過ぎない。

琵琶弾きは語るだろう。
古から伝わる日本の有名な平家の物語、800年も昔に栄華の果てに戦いに敗れ、海に沈んでいった幼い帝とその一族の悲劇の物語を、
刻一刻と形をかえて水のように動く舞踏家たちの傍で、、、
世界で今も続いている戦いの事を思いながら、、、
その愚かさと狂気を思いながら、、、

ああ、世界は、どこへ行くのだ。

Thoughts on 生滅流転

Where do we come from and where are we going?
生滅流転, ShoMetsuRuTen, Everything is born and dies, dies and is born again, and continues its transmigration.
The ancient Japanese philosopher Kamo no Chomei likened it to the flow of a river.
“The bubbles in the stagnant water are born and disappear, born and disappear, and never stop. And so it is with people."
We, the human race, have crawled up from the primordial waters of this earth and come to live on the ground. We believe that we have created civilization, progressed, developed, and prospered, but in the great cycle of reincarnation, we are but tiny creatures who live only a short time and then die.
The Biwa player will tell you the famous Japanese tale of the Heike, the tragic story of the young emperor and his clan who lost a battle and sank into the sea at the end of their prosperity 800 years ago,
beside the dancers, who move like water, changing their shape every moment,
thinking of the battles that are still going on in the world, thinking of its stupidity and madness...
Oh, where are we going?
