大倉摩矢子の舞踏稽古場（大宮）を拠点とする
舞踏グループ「鳰（Nio）」は、
2025年2月28日、巳年・魚座の日に命を授かりました。

再生と変容を象徴する巳、
深い感受性と境界を越える力を宿す魚座──
その星の巡り合わせに、
私は大いなる導きを感じています。

「鳰」の名は、
池辺に住む小さな水鳥、カイツブリの和名からいただきました。

かつて、道に迷った人を水上から導いたという伝承を持ち、
水面と水中を自在に、軽やかに行き来するその姿から、
見えない世界とこの世を行き来する存在として、
古くから親しまれてきた鳥です。

この名を授かった背景には、
ある夏の日に消えていったカイツブリの命と、
その後、厳冬のなかで生まれ、
無事に育った二羽の雛たちの存在があります。

命は、絶えることなく巡り、
かたちを変えながら、脈々と受け継がれていく──。

この出来事を通して、私は、
命の儚さと力強さを、深く感じました。

私たちの生の背景には、
常に、生まれてくることができなかった命たちの存在があります。

それを決して忘れることなく、
無数の死者、精霊たち、見えない力に支えられて
生かされていることに感謝しながら、

奇跡のように与えられたこの命を、
魂が宿るこの肉体を、
全身全霊、からだまるごと飛び込み、
生ききること。

私は、舞踏を通して出逢う
己が肉体の、豊穣な闇と輝く光のなかに、
これらすべてを豊かに全うする
無限の可能性が秘められていることを、
信じています。

これから始まる
「鳰（Nio）」の旅を、
どうか、見守っていただけたら幸いです。

Butoh Group Nio — The Beginning of a Journey of Life

【English｜Butoh Group Nio】

Butoh Group “Nio”, based at the Mayako Okura's Butoh training in Omiya,
was born on February 28, 2025,
in the Year of the Snake, under the sign of Pisces.

The Snake symbolizes rebirth and transformation.
Pisces carries deep sensitivity and the power to cross boundaries.
In this constellation,
I feel a profound and guiding force.

The name “Nio” comes from the Japanese name
for a small water bird, the grebe,
which lives by the edge of ponds and lakes.

According to old tales,
the grebe once guided lost travelers across the water.
Moving lightly and freely
between the surface and the depths,
it has long been cherished as a being
that travels between the visible world and the unseen.

Behind this name lies a personal memory.

One summer day,
the life of a grebe quietly disappeared.
Later, in the heart of winter,
two chicks were born
and grew up safely against the cold.

Life does not end.
It continues, changing its form,
carried forward without interruption.

Through this experience,
I came to feel deeply
both the fragility
and the immense strength of life.

Behind every life that comes into being,
there are always countless lives that could not.

Never forgetting this,
and with gratitude toward
the innumerable dead, spirits,
and unseen forces that support our existence,

I wish to live this miraculous life fully—
to dive into it with my entire being,
with this body in which the soul dwells.

Through Butoh,
I encounter both
the fertile darkness
and the radiant light within my own body.

I believe that within this bodily encounter
lies an infinite potential
to fully embrace
and live out all that life contains.

I would be honored
if you would gently watch over
the journey of “Nio”,
as it now begins.
